_______________________________________________________________

In Japan, there is a proverb called ‘’The frog in the well knows nothing of the great ocean.’’ It’s used when a person who doesn’t know outside of the world because of staying in the comfort zone.

Through this internship, I realized that I was exactly ’The frog in the well knows nothing of the great ocean.’’ However, it wasn’t negative at all. Why? Because this is my first experience living in outside of Japan! It’s no wonder that I didn’t know anything about the outside. Therefore, my view was significantly changed by this experience.

I have 3 points that I want to share from the TYA internship.

1. My common sense is not common sense for others.

Although this is normal, I realized that I often forget about the fact. There is the huge difference in cultural backgrounds, business manors between Hong Kong and Japan. A general thing in Hong Kong sometime not general in Japan. What most important is that don’t force one’s common sense in other places. I keep in my mind when I try to make a good relationship with foreigners.

2.The fast-changing business environments

I remember so vivid that I’ve assumed that I’ll be working typical “Advertising marketing” at TYA. However, the actual work was different from my expectation. They said to me that TYA needs to change from traditional advertising company to new digital creative agency. In the beginning, I couldn’t understand well what the meaning of it. But after spending some time in TYA, I’ve started to know that many companies and businesses are changing. After I understood this situation, I’ve started to develop my curiosity how they change and where they are heading. I wouldn’t be able to reach at this point if I didn’t work in rapidly evolving TYA.

3. Understanding Hong Kong and Japan much more than before

Through my stay, I was able to understand Hong Kong more than before. Although Hong Kong is economically and politically unstable, people in Hong Kong are fighting for their better lives so hard.

I strongly think Japan should see this situation seriously and take more actions in the world.

I found one common aspect on the 3 I have written above. It is that I have to know the world better. An ignorant person will be ignored by the upcoming world quickly. Mr Ueki told me  “Even though nobody knows what happening tomorrow and the correct way of carrying out in business, there are many hints which we can refer to direct ourselves.”

Rather than just living in my narrow view, not just looking at the front side of the things, it is necessary to understand the way people think and understand the message that is hidden behind things to survive today. I shall come out from the small world and be a frog jumping around the ocean!

To sums up, I appreciate TYA who gave me this fruitful internship and thank all the people those who have supported me!

See you soon again soon in Hong Kong!!
