There are 3 core points that the small creative agency TYA could expand its branches into oversea since 90’s.
1) It was the time for Japanese mega brands were glorying in their ascendancy in the foreign market, they started to set their branches in Asia.
2) “Why don’t you come to Asia? We cannot guaranty the business but we can give you chances if you wish.” One of our clients offers a great opportunity.
We should keep in mind that this was happened because of highly regarded skills of TYA such as the keen eye on creativity and the flexible services.
3)TYA founder Yoshimi had graduated American University in 70’s so he has very positive to expand his business into oversea.
In addition, there are many TYA staff who like to take any challenges.
Above all; there is full of very positive mind like “We should do something big in oversea” and passion.
After three years later from the opening of Singapore branch, we had received another opportunity to open a Hong Kong branch.
-How the TYA founder found the current CEO of TYA Hong Kong?
To look back their first meeting, it has to go back to a few years from 1998 in Japan.
At the time, the current CEO of TYA Hong Kong: Mr Ueki was looking for a design agency to make a catalogue in English for the oversea markets at the previous company. When he met TYA member first time, immediately he thought he would like to work with them. Interestingly, the TYA founder had the mohawk hairstyle at the time came along with a vivid portfolio, a very beautiful saleswoman and an ultra skinny designer from New Zealand. Without saying that they were so stood out from other ordinary creative agencies who just brought boring design works and wore the ordinary suits and ties.
Although other board members in Mr Ueki’s company were very sceptical about TYA, Mr Ueki decided to work with TYA with strong confidence.
So this was how they started to develop their partnership.
After a few years of the work, the TYA founder askedMr Ueki if there are any suitable person to operate the new Hong Kong branch. Mr Ueki had replied, “I am here for that.” Afterwards, they found an angel investor and finally, TYA Hong Kong had started to work on actual plans.
