【香港図鑑72】アパート外壁

香港では、築50年、60年といったアパートがごく普通に街のなかにあります。再開発が進む一方で、古い建物もしぶとく残っていて、むしろその雑多な混在こそが、香港らしさのひとつなのかもしれません。

【マーケの種73】味覚も嗜好も変わる②

香港は昔から外食文化が盛んな土地です。共働き世帯が多く、キッチンが小さな住宅も珍しくない中で、「家で料理をするより外で食べる」ことが、自然な選択として受け入れられてきました。朝食も昼食も、場合によっては夕食も、近所の食堂や茶餐廳で済ませる人が多く、外食は特別な行事ではなく、むしろ日常の延長にあるものでした。

Today, Japanese ramen has become a familiar sight on the streets of Hong Kong. But it wasn’t always welcomed with open arms. In the early days, Japanese ramen was often dismissed as being “too salty” or “too heavy.” It didn’t quite match the local palate, and as a result, it was rarely chosen when dining out. Ramen simply didn’t fit into the rhythm of everyday meals for most people.

【マーケの種72】味覚も嗜好も変わる①

今でこそ、日本のラーメンは香港の街にすっかり定着していますが、最初から歓迎されていたわけではありません。かつて、日本のラーメンは「塩辛すぎる」「味が濃すぎる」と敬遠されていました。香港人の味覚にはあまり合わず、外食として選ばれることも少なく、日常の食卓にはなかなか入り込めなかったのです。

「ブランディングはどのくらいの期間行うべきか？」

という質問を、よくいただきます。

この問いの背景には、「いつまで続ければ効果が出るのか？」とか、「ある程度やったら完了するのか？」という気持ちがあるのだと思います。ですが、答えはとてもシンプルです。「ずっと取り組むべき」なのです。
