UX Design and UI Design (Part 2) ✨~ Seeds of Marketing #67

Continuing from our last post, today we’ll take a deeper dive into the specific roles of UX designers and UI designers! 🧠✨ ■ What Does a UX Designer Do? 🔍 A UX designer’s main job is to conduct user research 📊 and design the overall structure and flow of a product. In other words, it’s not about simply making things look good. It’s about understanding how users behave, what they’re thinking, and how to make the experience smoother based on those insights.
Specifically, they might:
  • Conduct user interviews and surveys to uncover needs
  • Create customer journey maps to visualize the user experience
  • Perform information architecture (IA) to build clear, logical structures
  • Develop prototypes to test and validate ideas
In short, UX designers are responsible for drawing up the blueprint for the entire product or service 📝.

■ What About UI Designers? 🎨

So then, what does a UI designer do? UI designers take the flows and structures created by UX designers and bring them to life as actual interfaces 👀✨. For example:
  • Where should buttons be placed?
  • What colors and fonts should be used?
  • How can icons and micro-animations guide users intuitively?
They focus on designing an interface that users can operate intuitively and comfortably. In other words, while UX designers think about “how the experience should flow,” UI designers determine “how it should look and feel to the user”💡.

■ A Typical UX–UI Workflow 🔄

Imagine this: A UX designer maps out a smooth purchasing flow for users, such as:
  • From the homepage to a product list
  • Then to a product detail page
  • Adding the item to the cart
  • Proceeding to checkout
Based on this flow, the UI designer steps in and says: “Let’s make this button more noticeable,” “This color evokes a sense of trust,” and “This icon clearly shows users they’re adding something to the cart.” They add visual and functional enhancements to support the experience 🎨✨.

■ UX and UI Are Complementary 🤝

As you’ve probably realized by now, UX and UI are distinct disciplines, but they complement each other.
  • Without UX, UI designers wouldn’t know what kind of experience to design for.
  • Without UI, even a well-thought-out UX wouldn’t be effectively communicated to the user.
In short, one without the other cannot create an exceptional product. UX and UI must work together as a team, supporting one another to build the best user experience possible. This approach is crucial in today’s product development and marketing landscape.✨👏

■ In Summary 💬

Think of UX designers as “experience architects,” and UI designers as “craftspeople who give form to those experiences through visuals and interaction.” By respecting each other’s expertise and working hand in hand, we can create products and services that are intuitive, delightful, and loved by users 💡✨. In the next post, we’ll explore problems that arise when UX and UI don’t work well together—stay tuned!😉📚
