UX Design and UI Design (Part 3) ✨~ Seeds of Marketing #68

~ Creating the Best Experience Through Both Problem Solving and Creativity ~ Following up on [Marketing Seeds #67], we’ll dig even deeper into the differences between UX and UI! Here’s something we want to re-emphasize: UX design and UI design differ fundamentally in their approach 🔍✨

■ UX Design = Problem-Solving Approach 🧠

UX design focuses on solving the user’s problems. A UX designer:
  • Conducts user research to explore user behavior and psychology 📊
  • Identifies where users feel frustrated ❓
  • Pinpoints unmet needs ❓
From there, they design experiences that address those issues directly. The ultimate goals are: ✅ “Easy to use, without frustration” ✅ “Clear, guided flow” ✅ “Achieve goals naturally and efficiently” In essence, UX design is about identifying problems and mapping out the path to solve them.

■ UI Design = Creative Approach 🎨

On the other hand, UI design is a creative approach that appeals to users’ senses and emotions. UI designers consider questions like:
  • What color combinations feel exciting or trustworthy? 🎨
  • What button designs invite users to click? 👆
  • What fonts and layouts feel easy to read and pleasant? 📄
They focus on visual appeal and intuitive usability. The goals of UI design are: ✅ “I want to use this!” ✅ “I can’t help but interact with it!” So, while UX addresses usability, UI creates the emotional appeal that makes users want to engage.

■ Let’s Visualize It With an Example 📱✨

Imagine you’re creating a smartphone app:
  • UX designers map out the user journey from “Sign-up → Product search → Purchase.” They think through where users may get stuck and how to guide them smoothly toward checkout 🧠📝.
  • UI designers take that flow and bring it to life visually:
    • Use a standout color for the sign-up button
    • Add an intuitive icon to the search bar
    • Style the purchase button with a friendly font
In this way, UX creates the “path,” and UI turns it into a “path you’ll want to walk down.”

■ In Summary 💡

To recap:
  • UX Design = Identifying and solving problems through thoughtful experience design
  • UI Design = Visually expressing that design in a compelling and engaging way
Although their approaches differ, both aim for the same ultimate goal: an outstanding user experience. In our next post, we’ll dive into concrete examples of what happens when UX and UI are out of sync. Stay tuned! 😉📚
