The changes happening now are not a passing trend, but a structural change.
The phenomenon of “Northbound Consumption” indicates the heightened geographical liquidity of consumer behavior, while simultaneously serving as a sign that the identity of the Hong Kong market is being redefined. This flow cannot be stopped. So, what kind of future can we envision “after the change”? Rather than clinging to past success models—in this case, the triad of “location, distribution, and price”—we are required to have the resolve to ask new questions. For example: ・”What is the ‘real value’ that can only be experienced in Hong Kong?” ・”How do we measure and present value other than price?” ・”How do we create the ‘context’ to be chosen by consumers?” These are not mere sales promotion themes, but questions that refine the competitiveness of the city itself. Whether we can utilize this not by fearing change, but as an opportunity for redesign. That will be the line that divides the future Hong Kong market. 💡Change is not a threat. Rather, whether we can rediscover the “value of Hong Kong” starting from it ── that is where the next story begins.
